Two appealing things about jelly beans as subject for a painting are their colors and shape. The colors of the beans in this small study offer a strong contrast against the red background. I used a sculptural medium to produce the three dimensional jelly beans on the edge of the canvas and placed other 3D beans next to the two dimensional jelly beans.
